Assignment overview
Timing meets visual style
This module explored countdown effects using the techniques demonstrated in the Premiere Pro tutorials. I created two versions to compare a simple functional countdown with the more graphic language of a traditional film leader.
Both pieces use the same basic idea—counting toward a moment—but typography, geometry, and motion give each one a distinctly different character.

Countdown
This 10-second video countdown uses a simple numerical timer counting backward from 10 to 1, demonstrating the countdown technique covered in the Premiere Pro tutorial.

Countdown
This film countdown recreates the classic motion-picture counting leader, using large numbers, target rings, crosshairs, and a rotating sweep to create the traditional countdown effect.
Reflection
Same function.
Different feeling.
Creating the two countdowns showed how much visual treatment can change a very simple idea. The numerical version keeps attention on timing and readability, while the film leader adds rings, crosshairs, and movement that immediately suggest the history of motion pictures. The comparison helped me see special effects as more than decoration—they can establish style and context before the main content even begins.
